How And Where To Recycle

For all residents living within the Rushville city limits, curbside recycling service is provided to you. For questions regarding recycling service, please contact the Rushville Street Department – 765-932-2575.

For residents living within Rush County, but not within the city limits, recycling service is available at 217 S Smiley Ave.

Community Co-mingle Drop off Bins for Recycling

The Rush County SWMD provides free community bins for public recycling. Please follow the directions on the bins as to what is acceptable. All recycle material must be loose and not bagged.  Do not put bagged materials in the containers.

All items for recycling must be clean and free from debris.

Acceptable Items

What Items Can Be Recycled?

  • Newspaper / office paper / junk mail

  • Cardboard boxes / Paper board (cereal boxes)

  • Aluminum and steel cans

  • Glass bottles & Jars

  • Plastics - Recycle numbers 1-5 & 7, (we can not accept number 6 plastics)

Unaccepted Items

What Items Can NOT Be Recycled?

  • Plastic Bags

  • Plastic without a recycling symbol

You Should Know:

Additional Tips for Recycling

Keep glass and cardboard separate as they go in their own container.

All glass collected goes to Knauf Insulation and is used in their manufacturing process.
